Weight Gain

What is Weight Gain?

Hormone imbalances can significantly influence weight gain as hormones like thyroid hormones, insulin, and cortisol play crucial roles in regulating metabolism and fat storage.

Weight gain is increased storage of adipose tissue which can lead to negative health outcomes and decreased quality of life. Weight gain can occur due to positive energy balance (chronically overeating in relation to energy expenditure), hormonal shifts (thyroid, cortisol, sex hormones), stress, lack of sleep, and poor glycemic control. If weight is increasing despite the lack of caloric imbalance, it is important to investigate factors that may be affecting your metabolism.
