Insulin Resistance

What is Insulin Resistance?

Insulin resistance is a condition where the body's cells do not respond effectively to insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar (glucose) levels. Normally, insulin helps glucose enter cells to be used for energy. As a result of insulin resistance, the cells in muscles, fat, and the liver become less sensitive to insulin, causing the pancreas to produce more insulin to compensate.
