DUTCH: What inspired you to become a healthcare practitioner?

Dr. Tara Scott: I just felt drawn to help people, and I loved the science.

DUTCH: What is your training?

Dr. Tara Scott: I am a medical doctor, a certified menopause practitioner, and I completed the Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine (FAAMFM) to Fellowship in Anti-Aging Functional Medicine (FAAFM).

DUTCH: Describe your medical background/practice.

Dr. Tara Scott: My background is OB/GYN where I spent almost twenty years delivering babies, performing surgeries, and practicing office gynocology. In 2016 I “retired” from OB/GYN to concentrate only on functional and integrative medicine.

DUTCH: What other functional testing do you use in your practice?

Dr. Tara Scott: At Revitalize Medical Group we do saliva, serum, urine, stool, and micronutrient testing. We also test for mold, metals, urine neurotransmitters, and genomics.

DUTCH: How have you incorporated DUTCH Testing into your practice?

Dr.Tara Scott: We have been huge adopters of the DUTCH Test®! We use it as an optional functional test for almost all patients to assess their hormone balance and determine treatments.

DUTCH: What are the changes you have seen in your patients and practice since incorporating the DUTCH Test®?

Dr. Tara Scott: I love how DUTCH testing illustrates estrogen metabolism and also shows a cortisone curve. The organic acid section is a bonus!

DUTCH: Where do you see functional/integrative medicine twenty years from now?

Dr.Tara Scott: I definitely think functional/integrative medicine will be more mainstream. The patients are pushing for it, and with social media and the internet ideas are disseminated much faster than when I started this 15 years ago.

DUTCH: What do you like to do outside of work?

Dr. Tara Scott: I love to run and do anything active outside (hiking, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding) . I also love to travel. I am a big fan of show choir and  love watching my kids perform!
