Provider Spotlight: Mindy Pelz, DC

Dr. Mindy Pelz is crazy passionate about helping women stay healthy through their menopause journey. In her early 40’s, Dr. Mindy was the healthiest she’d ever been, until menopause hit her hard. Trying to discover why her hormones were on such a roller coaster, she went searching for answers to ease her menopause symptoms. What she discovered was there were five steps to her lifestyle needing to change in order to adjust to the changing hormones of menopause.

Currently, Dr. Mindy’s passion is educating women on this five step process. You can find much of her information laid out in a very simple and easy-to-approach, motivating manner on her YouTube channel. With this information, combined with her information on keto, fasting, and diet-variation, she has over 200,000 people as part of her Resetter Movement, a movement of like-minded people all supporting each other, exchanging health ideas, and cheering each other on to better health. Once a month, Dr. Mindy leads this group through a free, Fast Training Week, where all community members practice different styles of fasting together.

DUTCH: What inspired you to become a healthcare practitioner?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: My own journey with a chronic health condition. When I was twenty and coming out of undergraduate school, I got diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and discovered the medical world had no answers for me. I came across a holistic MD who changed my diet, got me on supplements and herbs, and taught me how to heal myself. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to do the same for others.

DUTCH: What is your medical training? Describe your experience/practice.

Dr. Mindy Pelz: I have an undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology, Doctorate of Chiropractic, Post-Chiropractic Studies in Pediatrics, Pregnancy, and I’ve spent the last six years deeply immersed in understanding cellular detoxification, diet, science behind fasting, and the hormonal journey a menopausal woman goes through.

DUTCH: What other functional testing do you use in your practice?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: We use DUTCH, Vibrant Wellness’ Gut Zoomer, and Heavy Metal Test.

DUTCH: How have you incorporated DUTCH Testing into your practice?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: We use the DUTCH Test® on almost every woman over forty who wants to do nutritional and detoxing with us. I find it really helps women see why they are having the symptoms they have, and it also helps us come up with a very customized plan for detox and lifestyle changes.

DUTCH: What are the changes you have seen in your patients and practice since incorporating the DUTCH Test®?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: Compliance! Because DUTCH testing tells us so much about a woman’s health, I find most women have an ‘ah-ha’ moment when I explain their findings and it motivates them to move into action. I also find that, for the first time, they feel like someone understands them and it helps them make tough lifestyle changes that would have been difficult without the confirmation of what their results show. We’ve seen improvements with mood, energy,  and so much more.

DUTCH: Where do you see functional/integrative medicine twenty years from now?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: I see it at the forefront of medicine. In twenty years, I think more people will be seeking functional medicine than an internist. Most people are really disgusted with the one-diagnosis, one-pill conventional medicine offers them. They are tired of being told there is nothing they can do or that they are crazy. Over the next twenty years, functional medicine doctors will be greatly accepted as they are the only ones really getting to the root cause of people’s symptoms and conditions.

DUTCH: What do you like to do outside of work?

Dr. Mindy Pelz: Friends and family are incredibly important to me, so anything I get to do with my loved ones makes me happy. I love to take adventures and travel with my family, getting out in nature as much as possible, and biking with my husband.
