DUTCH: What inspired you to become a healthcare practitioner?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I found science and particularly medicine fascinating, and I worked in the medical record department of a county hospital and I loved all the activity.

DUTCH: What is your training?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I went to medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, and did my OB-GYN training at GW Medical Center in Washington DC. Since then, I have studied primarily with A4M (www.a4m.com) and have my certificate in Advanced Endocrinology.

DUTCH: Describe your medical background/practice?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I have practiced women’s health/gynecology for 30 years. I am a solo practitioner practice, specializing in menopausal management.

DUTCH: What other functional testing do you use in your practice?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I do micronutrient testing, stool tests for food sensitivity.

DUTCH: How have you incorporated DUTCH Testing into your practice?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I use the test on most new menopausal patients, then repeat as needed.

DUTCH: What are the changes you have seen in your patients and practice since incorporating the DUTCH Test?

Dr. Melinda Hall: The test allows me to be more scientific in prescribing BHRT. I like the DUTCH test to see the metabolism of estrogen and the levels of different hormones. The cortisol is always helpful and the new testing for organic acids and neurotransmitters has been very helpful and many of my patients are depressed.

DUTCH: Where do you see functional/ integrative medicine 20 years from now?

Dr. Melinda Hall: It will be incorporated into more practices and not be practiced by only the super specialist.

DUTCH: What do you like to do outside of work?

Dr. Melinda Hall: I like spending time with my children and friends. I have a Bichon dog and live in an area where everyone has a dog.
