In Pursuit of Best Practice: Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT)
May 14, 2020 @ May 14, 2020 - May 14, 2020 UTC-7
Women around the world are united by menopausal upheaval. It is that phase in every woman’s life when her menstrual cycle comes to an end and her ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone. With the diminishing hormones, menopausal changes such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, difficulty sleeping, and mood swings begin to surface. Long-term changes such as bone loss, coronary heart disease, and cognition difficulties can also result.
For decades, clinicians have prescribed menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) to ease menopause symptoms in healthy women. Despite the accumulative literature, the debate over MHT can leave health practitioners conflicted.
Such controversies are opportunities in disguise, but only if we connect the dots and successfully define and seize the window of opportunity in MHT.
In this collaborative webinar, Mark Newman and Dr. Saltiel will share:
- The risks and benefits of MHT
- The evidence supporting transdermal estradiol (TD E2) and micronized progesterone (Pg) dosing to minimize adverse events and achieve desired benefits
- MHT testing: who should be tested, when to test, and what testing to use
