DUTCH™ Research and Validation in Peer-Reviewed Journal Article

Precision Analytical Inc., the creators of DUTCH™ (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones), announced the publication of a research and validation article in the peer-reviewed journal, BMC Chemistry.
The research and validation article, titled “Evaluating urinary estrogen and progesterone metabolites using dried filter paper samples and gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)” was completed collaboratively with the University of Southern California Reproductive Endocrine Clinical Laboratory.
The primary goal of this study was to demonstrate that analysis of urine sampled dried on filter paper provides results correlating with serum (blood) results. Additionally, the research hoped to show that collection of four samples during the day (4-spot method) can be substituted for a 24-h collection. Lastly, that the analysis of urine from dried samples is equivalent to liquid urine samples and adequately stable.
The data in the study shows equivalency between DUTCH™ and serum, DUTCH™ and 24-hr urine and liquid and dried urine samples. Mark Newman, Founder and President of Precision Analytical said, “We were pleased with the outcome, demonstrating that the dried urine assays for estrogen and progesterone are a good surrogate to blood testing as well as 24-hr urine testing.”
Ultimately, DUTCH™ is a useful clinical testing tool for hormone disorders and the dried, 4-spot method provides great ease for collection and may be a desired method to use for large epidemiologic studies.
