Building the Most Comprehensive Hormone Test: Ten Years of DUTCH
by Sydney Sprouse
This year, Precision Analytical celebrates 10 years of hormone testing
In those 10 years we’ve had many opportunities to learn and grow. We’re honored to be able to share our industry-leading testing with the functional medicine community.
Precision Analytical created the DUTCH Test to profoundly change one life, and then a million more. Call us ambitious—we know we can meet this goal with the care and attention we pay our patients and providers. The DUTCH Test has done exactly that over the past 10 years and will continue to profoundly change the lives of patients for many years to come.
Advanced Clinical Support and Education
What sets Precision Analytical apart from other labs is our commitment to helping providers help their patients. Through support and education from our team of DUTCH clinical experts, we empower providers to utilize our test to profoundly change the lives of their patients.
Our clinical consultants conference with more than 250 providers each week to ensure thorough understanding of our DUTCH report. We walk our providers through their patients’ results so they can provide the best possible care.
DUTCH clinicians provide hands-on support through a variety of training sessions:
- Extensive education, not just on our testing, but on all things hormones. We want our providers to have access to the most cutting-edge hormone research and education.
- One-on-one support. We know that as providers learn to use DUTCH testing, they may have questions. Our team of clinicians provide individual and group consultations to help you interpret results and form effective treatment plans for your patients.
- Live group mentorship sessions. DUTCH clinicians host guided learning sessions with small groups of providers to learn how to interpret DUTCH results.
Become a hormone expert with these advanced educational resources:
- A vast video library where providers can learn how to interpret results for each test.
- Downloadable resources including our steroid pathway chart, HRT monitoring matrix, and sample reports.
- Ongoing education with experts in functional medicine including monthly webinars, weekly podcast episodes, clinical case studies, blog posts, and more.
Peer-Reviewed Research and Validation
Our company began by building our testing based on scientific research. As we have grown, we continue to contribute to the scientific literature that builds evidence for functional endocrinology concepts and their validity. By publishing validation data, correlation data comparing to gold-standard methodology, and clinical validity data, our testing stands out from other hormone tests in our industry.
Clinical relevance and meaningful differentiation are our bread and butter. And we will continue to push ourselves and our tests through rigorous scientific evaluation to accomplish our mission of profoundly changing lives.

DUTCH testing offers the most extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones along with their metabolites. Additionally, the daily (diurnal) pattern of free cortisol is included, along with melatonin (6-OHMS), 8-OHdG, and nine organic acids. This combination of clinical information is not available by any other method.
The comprehensiveness of the DUTCH Test puts you in the driver's seat to helping solve your patients' most complex hormone issues.
One of the benefits of testing urine samples is the ability to see hormone detoxification and metabolism pathways which show not only how patients are producing hormones, but also how their bodies are processing those hormones. By measuring samples taken throughout an entire day, DUTCH can give providers a more complete picture of what is going on with their patients as opposed to serum testing, which only provides a snapshot of a patient's hormone health. The dials, fan gauges, and detailed clinical comments on each report add to the comprehensiveness of DUTCH so providers can clearly explain the results and show their patients how their hormone imbalance are improving over time.
With the DUTCH Test, providers can address complex estrogen-related symptoms by evaluating phase 1, 2, and 3 detoxification. The easy-to-follow pathway representation on the DUTCH report shows how estrone is converted to 2-OH-E1, the most stable of the three pathways, 4-OH-E1, which can become reactive quinones and increase risks for certain cancers, and 16-OH-E1, which is a proliferative estrogen that may contribute to symptoms like heavy bleeding, breast tenderness, Estrogen Receptor tumor growth, and more.
With Gratitude To Our Providers
Thank you for being a part of our first 10 years. For the past decade, DUTCH has served as an invaluable tool to help providers to solve complex hormone problems. It’s providers like you who allow us to reach our goal of profoundly changing the lives of patients.
